Discussion

This spit was excavated to define the features within the enclosure systems in the northern central part of area 12AD, in the eastern half of the dry valley. The material removed was generally a medium sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3) with 5-10% chalk inclusions, although both lighter and darker patches were also observed. The north-eastern quadrant of Grubenhaus 012AD08343 was defined, together with slot 012AD08073 and a significant number of post holes (non-structural, possibly fence lines or pens).
